Another Thing Coming
It took a year, but I finally finished the 2nd track. Album out 2017!
He said, ‘You were right, no one’s running this whole thing.’
I blame this town, this job, these friends; the truth is it’s myself
Death seed blind man’s greed
Poets’ starving children bleed
Nothing he’s got he really needs
Twenty first century schizoid man
Minute after minute,
Second after second,
Hour after hour goes by…
Working for a rich man,
Staying just a poor man,
Never stop to wonder why.
Hauntingly beautiful.

If you are on the look out for new music, don’t overlook this. It’s a new album by Tomáš Dvořák, the artist behind the soundtrack to the incredible game Machinarium. I must have listened to that soundtrack hundreds of times in the last year, and though I’ve only listened to this through once or twice so far, I can tell it’s going to me on my rotation for months to come. Incredible, ethereal music.
In honour of R.E.M.’s decision to call it a day, here’s one of my favourites: the video for Imitation Of Life.
From Wikipedia:
Michael Stipe, in an interview with MTV UK in 2001, explained how the video was made. “The entire video took 20 seconds to shoot. What you’re watching is a loop that goes forwards for 20 seconds, backwards for 20 seconds, forwards for 20 seconds, backwards for 20 seconds, with one camera, static, and then using a technique called ‘pan and scan’, which is a technical thing that is used when they go from a widescreen format and reformat to fit your television or DVD, moving in on certain parts of the entire picture. And you’ll see that we do that picking up various people within the frame.”
